Real World

5 min read

So gruduated. Well. Sort of. I still have to wait a month to find out about my diploma. Pretty sad. I actually graduated with good grades, which really surprised me a lot. But since the state made the End of Course Exame (formely known as the WASL) mandetory to recieve your diploma, it's really screwed me over. The math part of the exam is what I really sucked at. But I studied for a whole month non-stop up to that test. So hopefully I passed, wish me luck btw please!

Still though, aside from that. I am officially a graduated high school student. Which means I am now like the rest of you, and part of regular society. I had plans to go to the Art Institute, and had everything pretty much arranged, but that State Test, man, really screwed me over. But I'm still trying to do something with my art. For example. Me and my comic group LETHAL LEAD Comics, have recently been trying to finish a lot of our comic projects. I recently learned from a friend of mine that a city near my town is holding their very first comic con. The special guest of honor apparently will be STAN THE MAN LEE! That's reason enough for me to go. But also, I just found out Artist Alley is looking for people to buy some of the open table spots to fill them up I guess. The price this year is 150 dollars. This sounds like a great oppurtunity for our comic group to get some recognition. So I'm going to work hard this summer on comics, trying to self-publish some comics, and hopefully, the final part of the goal, have a booth set up in Artist's Alley. So wish me luck on that too please!

As for my recent artwork, the black, the white, and of course the red portraits i've been drawing. If it seems like I'm drawing them out of some form of depression, it's actually the opposite. Honestly, my dad for my graduation present got me the 20th anniversary edition of the Hellboy Animated dvd, which came with an awesome original Hellboy comic. I was looking at some of Mike Mignola's comic covers, and decided I wanted to give it a shot. To give my own comics cool covers basically. The difference between mine and Mike's work is obviously our style. His is more planned, and honestly more clear than mine. My art is pretty abstract, with lots of lines, and a lot of inspiration from both american comics and Japanese Manga. Also, a big difference between our comic covers is his seem to be more dark, while mine focus on three main colors: Black, White, and my favorite, Red.

So that's a short little explanation for that.

I will also be getting back into doodling monster drawings and goth art for my fans of my dark art. And for my comic fans, I have some treats coming, but I want to get them COMPLETELY done before I start uploading. So please be patient. I will try to doodle up some cool monsters and portraits to sustain your "sick-side" for as long as it takes me to finish up at least the first issue of one of the comics.

Another one of the comics that will be showing up sooner rather than later is one that will be along the lines of TFCS, but a little bit more demented.... Oh, and all the characters are horrible rag-doll puppets. So, enjoy that.

As for me personally, I recently discovered there is a small mouse living under my computer desk. He hangs out by my scanner (which bothers me a bit because I hope he doesn't chew on the wires out of boredom or curiosity one day) and my computer tower which is also subsequently on the floor (same problem I wish doesn't happen). I can't bring myself to kill the little bugger, so I kind of just feed it crumbs and stuff whenever he decides to come out. I have taken to calling him Nibbler.

Ironically my brother has a small mouse that lives in his closet that he's been feeding for a while. The mouse used to be small but now is pretty much a golf-ball of fat. lol.

Alright, now that I prolly wierded out a good lot of you, that's my journal update. Sorry it wasn't that humourous, but you can easily cure that by punching your local clown in the stomach with a bat! I imagine clowns puke rainbows or ice cream or something, idk. Toodle Doo!

Adoptables.

2 min read

Just a thought, but was thinking about trying my hand at making "adoptables". Demons, dragons, warriors, fantasy creatures, even fake pokemon, for the vast amount of RP players who circulate on deviantart. Personally, I LOVE the RP community on deviantart, I just don't have much time to participate. But was thinking of making some adoptables and see how well that goes. As well as offering my artistic ability to people who want they're OC's drawn. The OC can be for an RP group or game, or even a character from a video game you made or a Dungeons and Dragons, table top game you like. But first I will try my hand at adoptables.

So, how was everyone's weak been so far?

As for my weak, I spent a lot of time with my video game friends, because my social life is close to nill, lol. Though when you have a game like Borderlands 2 to play, you'll discover it's a good waste of your time.

Sir Hammerlock reminds me of Robin Williams in a lot of ways. His witty comments and sarcasm make his missions fun to play. Me and him hang out at Moxxi's a lot. Not because Moxxi is pretty good looking, or anything. Though it's hard not to notice her when she does her "dance". Okay, yaw. That's the main reason I hang out at the bar.

And then there's Tiny Tina, everyones favorite psychotic explosives expert. She reminds me of a little sister. A very psychotic, destructive little sister. And she's played by one of my favorite Youtube celebs, so what could be better?

So those are the peeps I've been hanging with this weak. How bout you, got any video game buddies you've been chilling with?

Is it odd the one thing I'm looking forward to about going to college in a big city is a Starbucks? I don't know why, I mean, I love coffee, and I guess the idea of getting coffee at a store and working on my comics outside of the house is kind of a cool idea to me. Okay, yaw, my dreams are really simple. Alright, so where have I been? Not-too-long ago I was uploading new TFCS's pretty loyally, but I've been really busy these last couple of weaks. I had to go to Seattle this Saturday, and stayed until Sunday. That's like, a four hour drive from my small town to the big city. Still, it was fun. I went there because I was invited to a senior saturday tour at the Art Institute, and that was really cool. I went with the media art tour, and got to experience what a class was like there. Me and the other artists there got to work with the digital drawing tablets and the photoshop program that digital artists use. There were a LOT of talented artists there, and it was nice to meet them. The class was being taught by the artist who worked on Age of Empires online and some other games, and his artwork is pretty amazing, so that was cool to get to learn from him. It was really awesome to meet other artists though. I got my packet and stuff to fill out and my application that I need to sign and send in, including an essay and stuff for this portfolio scholarship I'm entering. I'm pretty good with essays, so that shouldn't really be hard for me. So needless to say I've been working very hard on trying to get in there.

Now onto stuff that people really like from me, my art. I'm on spring break currently, so I get the entire weak off. What will I be doing? Aside from filling out paperwork and such for the Art Institute, I'm getting very serious on not only my drawings, but my puppets and cosplaying. My friend wants to start up a cosplay group, and wants me to upload my tutorials on how I make my armor. The only thing special about my armor is I use a combo between cheap fabrics, practically scraps and stitch note cards that I designed as armor over them. I'll admit, it's not the fanciest cosplay armors you'll see, but if you're on a budget, I made a pear of Captain America gauntlets for a dollar, lol. As for my puppets, I want to start up an online store still, and will probably make the puppets nothing but steampunk themed. I want them to be highly detailed though, and I've been making armor pieces and stuff for them. I've always liked marionettes, just not exactly how they looked. So the whole idea for my marionette shop would be "out of the ordinary" or even "badass" puppets, since a lot of them are steampunk samurai, mechs, zombies, superheroes, and they look very gritty, and somewhat mean. So once I get about seven puppets, I'll post them on an online site I'll make soon, and they'll all be for sale. As I stated before in a previous journal entry, my puppets are made with recycled water bottles, so if you buy one of my puppets to add to your steampunk/goth collection, you'll also be helping the earth. So win win really.

As for my trip to Seattle, it was very interesting. I didn't know Comic Con was going on, if I did I would've saved up money and even brought one of my costumes. But I did go to the Pike's Place Market for the first time. That place was awesome. I loved the street performers, I loved the market itself, I thought the guys who yelled out fish orders and threw fish to eachother was awesome, and I loved the stores down below, like the puppet shop, the circus sideshow shop, the comic shop, which kind of felt hidden. That place feels like a miniature city really, it was awesome though. It reminded me of the Troll Market from Hellboy 2, but with a little less trolls.

So yaw, I hope to get into Seattle soon, I will continue to work on my art no matter what, and I hope to get somewhere with it, whether that means promoting my own puppet/cosplay studio or not. So, that's my update for now guys. Now comment down below and tell me what you've been up to! :D

So, to all of my friends who still actually read these, guess you probably want an update, right? Because you're selfish like that and force me to write these so you can be snoopy and read up on what I'm doing, right? Or do you just like the thought of me having to do forced labor? I be you'd be happy if I was in shackles getting whipped right now while typing this? Probably not. Unless you're into Fifty Shades of Grey, in which case, I'll give you my number. jk. Seriously though, what HAVE I been up to?

To be honest, not much. I mean, I've been working harder on the LZ the Living Zombie comic more than any other comic I've done in the past. The reasoning is kind of ridiculous. You see, my friend and co-writer thought of the comic when we were bored one night trying to think of a project. He didn't think I'd really do it. Well now here we are, and we found out we really didn't want to do it. But I decided I need to finish at least ONE comic. Well since my co-writer pretty much relinquished all creativity and storyline to me, I am actually having more fun with LZ now. Also, some of you may have noticed the first couple of pages were in COLOR? Weird, I know, I use black and white for pretty much all my comic book art. I was going to color the whole thing, but I decided not only do I want this to be like a manga, but also coloring takes longer, and costs more to color an entire comic book. So what's in store for LZ? Me pretty much filling it up with ridiculous amounts of zombie violence, steampunk mechas, and zombie killing badassery. I really want to finish LZ, but not be ashamed that I worked on it. I may have went into it downright HATING the comic, now though, I'm close to finishing it, and I gotta say I'm pretty happy to where it's gotten. Some of you may have noticed that the style changes up a lot. Some of you may have even noticed mistakes in pages. That's actually on purpose, I could've gone back and redid the pages, but I wanted to not only save paper and ink, but also wanted to show the progress LZ has undergone and the skills its actually given me since I started it. So when LZ is gone, I hope it may become as popular as my other comics that I never finished, lol.

Speaking of other comics, me and my co-writer and my brother/co-writer also were talking, and we kind of were thinking about our comics. I know, weird right? A comic group that talks about comics? But we all agreed that we come up with comics too fast and since I'm the only artist in the group, that it takes a while for all of our comics to be finished. So I suggested we just make first issues. We come up with an idea, make a really cool first issue, and see what people think. Well I'm also a fan of Shonen Jump and Yen Plus, and other magazines that deal with art, so I suggested we make our own magazine. They both kind of laughed until I explained to them that we could fill it with all of our first issues. Not only that but pictures and commentary on how we developed them all, so people can get a look into what it's like to be an independent comic artist. So we're seriously thinking about taking Lethal Lead and turning it into a comic magazine for indie comics. I'd like to recruit other artists too for the magazine, but we might wait until we get a first issue published, and see how the sales are. Most of the comics will be in black and white, and manga style. I really have fully embraced my manga side and am proud of that, lol. So, keep a look out for a possible Lethal Lead magazine on your local store shelves, in the future though. lol.

As for other stuff. School's doing well, for the most part. I'm trying to get into the Art Institute of Seattle and I've been talking to their reps a lot, and even impressed one of the reps with my art. I want to enter in more contests, mostly for scholarships, but also to get my art more noticed, especially by colleges. I may have to go to a community college first though, and work my way up, but I'm okay with that, especially since a community college nearby is offering a new class on graphic novels. That's right, a comic book class in college. It just got a whole lot awesome up in here!

And for my last little update, since I'm pretty tired, it's like, 1:15 in the morning here, I just read about a new scholarship for cosplayers. That's right, I'll post a link if you're interested, I still have to read the details, but a scholarship is literally offering scholarships for people's cosplays, mostly I think for handmaking your outfit though, not buying it. But still, expect a cosplay finally from me real soon for this scholarship, lol.

Alright, that seems to be it for now. As I always say, I don't always drink Cthulu's champagne, but when I do, my brain screams like a banshee and I see ponies with battle axes. Later! :iconsaluteplz: -9
